We like the fast sign-up process with no minimum deposit and low fees on the Standard and ThinkZero accounts. Our team also enjoy using the broker’s ThinkTrader platform, which offers a slick interface, dynamic charts and sophisticated analysis tools. Weak points for us are the average selection of payment methods and limited social trading tools, but these are very minor complaints. US not acceptedOur Opinion On FP Markets: FP Markets is a multi-regulated forex broker. What stands out for us are the excellent trading conditions for active traders, from fast execution speeds to deep liquidity and low spreads. Algo traders and scalpers are particularly well catered for with access to MT4, MT5, and cTrader, alongside VPS hosting. On the negative front, the copy trading app doesn’t rival the features of industry leaders based on our tests. The demo account also expires after 30 days and the sign-up process is lengthy. #158 Amega
US not acceptedOur Opinion On Amega: Amega offers the powerful MetaTrader 5 platform and the convenience of commission-free trading. Adding to the broker’s appeal is the no minimum deposit and straightforward sign-up process, which took us just a few minutes. However, Amega struggles to compete with the best forex brokers. The product portfolio is limited, while its research and educational tools could be improved. The notable weak point lies in regulatory oversight, a crucial factor influencing our assessment of the broker’s trustworthiness. Verdict: Amega is a no-frills forex broker with low entry requirements but it trails the top brokers. Summary Pros & […]

#199 Vault Markets
US not acceptedOur Opinion On Vault Markets: After testing all Vault Markets’ services, our verdict is that this may be a viable option for local investors in South Africa, but we wouldn’t recommend it as a top international brand. Though we enjoy the MT4 and MT5 compatibility, we miss the wide range of forex pairs, trading tools and expert analysis offered by top competitors, and we also feel the broker lacks transparency in key areas including trading fees. Summary Pros & Cons Is Vault Markets Regulated? Our experts are not overly impressed with Vault Markets’ regulatory status. The broker only holds one […]

US not acceptedTrading 212 has received a lot of complaints about unfair practices. We, therefore, no longer recommend them. We recommend that you choose another better forex broker instead. Trading 212 is a trading site where you can gain exposure to things such as stocks, ETFs, indices, commodities, foreign exchange (forex) pairs, cryptocurrency, and more. Examples of why Trading 212 has become possible: A downside with Trading 212 is that you can’t used the MetaTrader4 platform. Also, algorithmic/automated trading is not supported. Ownership Trading 212 was created by Avus Capital, a company based in Bulgaria. In 2013, the company was incorporated in […]

The company behind UFX, Reliantco Investments Ltd, has also given up its license from the Cyprus Securities & Exchange (CySEC). Before UFX closed, our experts also became concerned about the practices of Account Managers who were inappropriately encouraging deposits and trades. About UFX Founded in 2007, UFX Markets got rebranded as UFX in 2014. This broker out of the Republic of Vanuatu, has built a big name for itself through the last few years. The rebranding came to match the three-letter domain […]

All Our Brokers
How We Compare Forex Brokers
To find the best forex brokers our experts assess firms across dozens of categories and over 100 data points. Our approach is to look at forex brokers in a holistic way and we form our opinion by examining them from every angle.
We know that traders have different needs and strategies, and the top forex broker for one trader will not necessarily be right for another. For example, a forex broker that provides the best features and support for casual beginners may well frustrate experienced day traders who are looking for ultra-tight spreads and lightning-fast execution.
So, our forex broker reviews aim to build a complete picture of the services offered by a brokerage along with our assessment on how successfully they are implemented and who will be best served.
Trust & Safety
The most important of these considerations relates to trust and safety. Simply put, if your funds are not secure with a forex broker and there is a chance you will not be able to withdraw them, then it doesn’t matter how tight the spreads are or how powerful the trading software is.
You are normally better off choosing well-known and regulated forex brokers over firms that advertise the lowest fees but operate with little to no regulatory oversight.
The most important factors we consider when assessing the safety of forex brokers are:
- Regulation – It isn’t always necessary for forex brokers to be overseen by a top-tier regulator like the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) or the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC), but those that are follow stringent safety measures and are routinely tested for compliance. This is why we generally favor regulated forex brokers and direct newer traders in particular to one of these reliable brands.
- Client Protection – Important measures, such as negative balance protection and segregated client accounts, are offered by the top forex brokers. These are key protections for retail traders as they limit the amount you can lose both through online forex trading and from non-trading events such as business failure.
- Track Record – We research the track record of every forex broker that we review to look for any signs of foul play or negligence. Foul play could come from scam forex brokers that disappear with clients’ funds or abuse user agreements to make it extremely difficult or expensive to withdraw funds.
Forex Accounts
Although some forex brokers offer just one account type to all traders, it usually isn’t a case of one size fits all as different trading styles have different requirements.
We look for the terms offered to traders through different account types and evaluate how well these stand up to competitors. Key components we consider are minimum deposits, joining requirements, and benefits for active forex traders.
Trading Fees
Most forex brokers make their money from spreads and/or trading commissions, and traders must take these into account as they directly affect their ability to turn a profit.
While most brokers tend to quote their lowest spreads, we also look at the average spreads offered on forex pairs to get the most accurate idea of a broker’s affordability.
Our experts also consider other trading charges, including swap fees, which are applied when you hold positions overnight.
Non-Trading Fees
Additional charges such as deposit and withdrawal fees can add up and cut into forex traders’ profits. Inactivity charges applied to dormant accounts can also catch out casual forex traders.
Ideally, a broker will not charge any extra fees, but many do, and we thoroughly scan their terms and conditions to ensure forex traders won’t run into any nasty surprises after signing up.
Payment Methods
Often overlooked, but important, are the deposit methods accepted by a forex broker. Since some solutions are more affordable and faster than others, they can help you sign-up and start trading forex quickly and cheaply.
We also make a point of checking whether each forex broker accepts less conventional funding methods, such as crypto funding, and list any deposit or withdrawal fees for each method.
Forex Assets
It isn’t always necessary to have the widest range of forex pairs – the 50+ offered by many top brokers is usually more than most traders will ever need – but a wider selection can lead to more opportunities and we always compare the ranges available.
We also explain how forex can be traded, whether directly or through contracts for difference (CFDs), plus the respective benefits and drawbacks.
Non-Forex Assets
A good suite of non-forex assets provides more flexibility and many forex traders like to branch out into trading stocks, commodities, indices, cryptos and more, in an effort to build a diverse portfolio.
Our experts review and analyze all the instruments available and gauge how they compare to competitors’ trading products.
Trading Platforms
One of the most significant factors that will impact your forex trading experience and profits is the software you use.
Your platform, or app, will provide access to the foreign exchange market along with the charts and tools you need to track price movements and plan trades.
We test each broker’s proprietary and supported third-party platforms to give traders the lowdown on how powerful, reliable and user-friendly they are. This includes leading forex software like MetaTrader 4 (MT4).
Execution
The way an online broker executes trades can be complex and has a huge impact on the opportunities available to forex traders.
We always shed light on brokers’ execution models as well as related matters such as their liquidity providers, and respective pros and cons.
Our team have also analyzed and ranked the best electronic communication network (ECN) and straight-through processing (STP) forex brokers.
Leverage
The ability to trade on margin is important to many forex traders as it enhances their ability to profit from relatively small and short-term price fluctuations with a minimal cash outlay.
We always list the maximum leverage available from a forex broker on majors, minors and exotics, and unpack any margin call and stop-out levels.
Forex Tools
The top brokers provide powerful third-party or in-house tools that help traders to analyze forex markets and plan trades and we see these as some of the most important things to look for when comparing forex brokers.
Tools like copy trading, for example, are particularly useful for beginners, allowing users to mirror the strategies of experienced forex traders.
Research & Education
Education is not just for beginners, and we think a good forex broker should provide a full suite of graded educational content as well as extras like news analysis, blogs and webinars to help clients keep up to date with market events.
Demo Accounts
Demo accounts are simple features offered for free by many forex brokers, and they can be one of the best practice tools around, as well as letting traders test drive different brokerages before depositing money.
The most important factors we consider when comparing forex demo accounts are whether they offer the same trading conditions as live accounts, and whether there are any limits to their usage.
Bonus Offers
Deposit and no-deposit bonuses, plus other incentives like fee rebates can be enticing to forex traders.
As well as comparing the bonus deals on offer, we review the terms and conditions of these promotions to ensure there is a realistic chance for traders to benefit from them. This includes checking for prohibitive withdrawal conditions.
Our experts also stress the importance of not giving too much weight to bonus deals. We never recommend choosing a forex trading broker based on their promotions alone.
Customer Service
Another important but easily overlooked factor when choosing a forex broker is customer service. We recommend that traders sign up with a broker that offers speedy service from knowledgeable assistants.
As part of our forex broker reviews, we test the availability and responsiveness of customer service teams, identifying those that best support their clients.
